At OpenAI DevDay 2025, Sam Altman introduced the Apps SDK that allows legacy applications to interact with ChatGPT.  See the video here.  Sam says, "this will enable a new generation of apps that are interactive, adaptive and personalized!"  This is exactly what I wrote about in my article "Where AI is Heading" under the section on "Intent-Driven Computing".  The key idea is expressed here, "With the advent of sophisticated AI, traditional applications will become obsolete. Voice and vision user interfaces (UIs) will dominate, allowing AI to decipher user intent and perform appropriate actions seamlessly."  That will cause traditional applications to disappear behind the Chat interface, understand Intent, perform the action behind the scenes (actually running the app) and return the result.  Of course, this is similar to why traditional search is dying because "search" is almost never the user intent - "answer" or "find" is the user's intent.
