I have decided to join Oberon Associates, Inc. as their Vice President of Enterprise Data Management. This is an exciting opportunity for me to go back and work with friends (the principals of Oberon are the same folks I worked with at Mystech Associates, Inc.), expand the company in to areas of data management like the Data Reference Model and the National Information Exchange Model, and return to doing software development on a leading Biometrics system for the United States Army.
Of course, I am most excited to be getting back into the software development trenches. In my experience, the foundation of technical authority is direct experience and therefore one must never stray too far from getting your hands dirty. Oberon is loaded with both seasoned developers and newcomers and I look forward to kickstarting a robust, internal training program. Many of my principles for a successful IT career were honed at Mystech Associates. With a wry smile, I imagine the the opportunities to explore the "program boldly" tenet...
So, yet another chapter begins and I have many things to explore, ponder and write about. Stay tuned.
